Tickets for Vietnam vs. Malaysia match see sharp price drops, some even sold at face value

Just hours before the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 semifinal between Vietnam and Malaysia, the black market for tickets has taken an unexpected turn, with some tickets being offered at just 100,000 VND above the listed price, and in some cases, even at the original ticket price.

The second leg of the semifinal between Vietnam and Malaysia will kick off at 8:00 PM on August 19 at My Dinh Stadium. After a 2-0 victory in the first leg, coach Kim Sang Sik's team holds a significant advantage to secure a spot in the final.

Previously, the unofficial ticket market had seen prices driven very high. At one point, tickets with a face value of 1 million VND were being offered for up to 2 million VND, while tickets worth 700,000 VND were also being sold at double the price. Tickets priced at 500,000 VND and 300,000 VND were all quoted significantly above their original cost.

However, by match day, the situation had changed markedly.

According to the latest observations, some regular tickets on the black market are now only about 100,000 VND higher than the listed price. For example, tickets worth 500,000 VND in Section A of My Dinh Stadium are being offered for around 600,000 VND each. This markup is much lower than the earlier period when prices were doubled.

More notably, some people are even selling tickets at the original price. One case shared on social media involves Section C tickets with a face value of 300,000 VND being offered for 300,000 VND, meaning buyers pay no extra amount compared to the initial listed price.

This development indicates increasing selling pressure on those who had hoarded tickets earlier. With only a few hours until kickoff, maintaining high prices risks the possibility of not selling all tickets.

The 2-0 victory on Malaysian soil may also be one of the reasons why the demand for high-priced tickets has decreased. With Vietnam's team building a huge advantage, a portion of fans no longer accept paying double or triple the original price to secure a ticket to the stadium.

However, not all ticket types have dropped significantly. Some prime seats, VIP tickets, and invitation tickets are still being traded at high prices depending on the specific area and location.
